Penta Employee Wins Rocket City Marathon
12/8/2018
Penta proudly salutes employee Brandon York for winning the 2018 Huntsville Rocket City Marathon! Brandon braved cold and wet conditions to best over 1000 other runners in the 42nd running of the event through the streets of Huntsville. Brandon’s winning time of 2 hours 23 minutes and 37 seconds was more than five minutes faster than the 2nd place finisher. A former cross country and track athlete at UAH, Brandon led the race wire-to-wire to take home the $1,000 first place prize. Race time weather conditions were horrendous with the temperature at 41 degrees along with rain, fog and a heavy mist. According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, the wind chill was 36 degrees with a northeast wind at 8 miles per hour. “My training for the marathon was a nine-week, 57 miles per week workout on the streets of Madison,” said York. “I think the new race directors did a fantastic job with the event and crossing the finish line inside the Von Braun Center arena before a great crowd was certainly awesome.” Brandon is a design engineer for Penta supporting THAAD’s ICOFT project.
